Separation Party of Alberta - Message From the President
September 2005
Dear fellow Albertans,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that have supported our cause up to now, as members
(former, current and future) of the Separation Party of Alberta (SPA). Some of you may be disheartened because
you do not know what is happening directly with the movement. I can tell you here and now that SPA is on solid
footing, and that the Directors are doing their utmost to make every effort and every dollar count
towards our final goal.
We, on the Board of Directors and all the hands-on party members, work on a volunteer basis. I want to
cite one of our recent successes and thank all those that have worked on our new web site and continue to do so
every day. This is dedication and volunteerism at its finest.
We are improving our telephone service and unlike other political parties a real person at one of SPA’s
offices answers the telephone during regular business hours. This new number, (403) 327-3105
gives anyone access to me and to SPA.
Trying to run a political party on just a $10 membership each year does not enable us to do all the
promotion of our cause that we want, need or should do. We try to make every dollar that is donated reach its
intended placement. As the President of SPA, my goal is to improve the situation on all fronts.
That's why I am asking you to take a moment to picture what a country Alberta will be, when independence is achieved.
Just think of it: Day one - NO MORE G.S.T. The federal income taxes previously paid to central Canada
now stay in Alberta. Now Albertans can take full benefit of our resources and efforts directly. Gasoline,
home heating, and imports of all kinds cost less because you are not burdened with needless taxes. Business is
faster and less complicated because you are not burdened with pointless restrictions. Farmers market their
product as they see fit.
The mind boggles when you think of all the possibilities. In short, Albertans' cost of living will go
down along with a substantial rise in our living standard. The end result is that Alberta would quite quickly
become one of the largest economies in the world.
This is a short cursory over view of what independence will bring to Alberta and what will come to this
new country, and rest assured; - IT WILL COME.
When I field questions from members of other parties, especially the Liberals, they ask, "What are your
party policies?" Well, we do have party policies, and none of them will be achieved until we gain independence.
Then I ask them the same question in return. That’s when I get that long pause. I then ask them what they stand
for - same reaction. I then ask them if they ever had a policy or if they can remember a policy they had -
sometimes the answers are quite humorous.
I bring this subject up because policy is not solely what this party is all about. SPA is about choice -
democratically voiced and elected by the people. The simple truth is 100% of all Albertans could choose or vote
in favor of any one policy, and if that policy is not approved by central Canada (Ontario and Quebec), it simply
becomes a dead issue. We have to look no further than our elected Alberta “Senators in waiting” who have been
passed over more than once.
One hundred (100) years of control and living as a second-class citizens in a country that only takes
from our region is one of the central issues why we want independence. We are exposed to a central regime that
exercises complete control over us by way of sheer numbers/votes. This is not, in any sense of judgment, a democracy.
One thing I am quite sure of is your deep love and passion for Alberta. As you know, the Separation
Party of Alberta is the only hope this region has to avoid the oncoming dismal future Canada has for itself.
We offer the people of Alberta the ability to control their future. We must throw off the yoke of central Canada
and allow Albertans to promote the values they hold dear as a society.
In summation, the Separation Party of Alberta has a yeoman's task ahead of it. Right now, we at SPA do
the best we can with what we have. If you, as an Albertan, have concerns about the well-being and future of
ALBERTA, then I solemnly ask that you donate what you can to help us continue the fight and reach the goal for
your future - INDEPENDENCE.
Yours in Independence,
Michael R. Bennison
